DANA CHILDS

Radio has provided Dana the opportunity to work and live
in some of New Mexico’s
most interesting cities including Albuquerque,
Santa Fe, Farmington, and Los Alamos. As
a long-time resident and broadcaster in each of these towns, he understands the
unique sense of community pride, and history that makes a place different, yet
part of the fabric that is diverse New
Mexico.
He earned his Associate of Arts degree in broadcasting
from Northeast Community College in Norfolk Nebraska
in 1981, with the aid of a basketball scholarship. Pursuing the bachelors
degree, and his first real radio job, he told Wayne State College in Wayne ,
Nebraska he would accept their scholarship offer, if they would help him get a
job at the local radio station.
With a real job on his resume and tired of winter, Dana
left college and moved to Miami where he gained valuable live stage experience
at the Miami Seaquarium, appearing in a choreographed show with trained animals
in front of a live, paying audience of thousands.
Dana’s radio career includes stations in Lincoln,
Nebraska, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Farmington and Albuquerque.
Dana looks at the opportunity to host afternoon drive for
the classical music audience as an exciting new challenge professionally, and a
life-changing experience personally. He
loves music and grew up in a musical family, exposed
to the Big Bands and Standards by his parents. He is excited to promote Art and Music
in New Mexico.
He is the proud father of one son who is a sophomore in
college.
Dana also is interested in efforts to help homeless
citizens, and assists with alcohol recovery solutions for New Mexico.
