Classical KHFM is proud and humbled to be the recipient of the 2008 Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, the highest artistic honor handed out throughout the state of New Mexico. KHFM-FM, along with seven other individuals were named as winners of this distinguished award in an announcement made by the State's Department of Cultural Affairs on May 2, 2008. In a press release sent out by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Governor Bill Richardson states "This year's recipients of the Governor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts are artists and contributors who exemplify the energy and creativity of New Mexico. I applaud their achievements and congratulate these outsanding artists." KHFM was given the award for Major Contributor of the Arts, nominated by many New Mexican's including the Most Rev. Michael J. Sheehan, of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe called the radio station “a great blessing to our community.” Sheehan said: “I am a great fan of classical music as I think it is uplifting to the soul. I wake up every morning with the KHFM music, and KHFM is the last thing I hear before drifting off to sleep every night.” Classical KHFM 95.5 & 102.9 fm would like to thank the Department of Cultural Affairs, Rev. Sheehan, its listeners and the classical music community who have supported the station since it first came on the air over 50 years ago in 1954 and will, as it always has, remain committed to the arts community throughout New Mexico and are honored to have won such a prestigious award. | | |

The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra presents the final Classics concert of the 2007-2008 season. Terrence Wilson, one of today’s most gifted pianists, will perform Mozart’s legendary Piano Concerto No. 21 with the NMSO. Steven Smith, music director of the Santa Fe Symphony, will conduct the concert. Also on the program is Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. These tickets are for Saturday evening, May 17th at 6:00 p.m. at Popejoy Hall. Five pairs of tickets will be given away between Friday, May 9th and Thursday, May 15th. Tickets may be picked up at will call at Popejoy one hour before the beginning of the concert. | | |

| | Hear Sangre de Cristo Chorale |

The Sangre de Cristo Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Doyle Preheim, wraps up its 30th anniversary year with a performance of Franz Schubert’s Mass in E-flat, on Sunday, May 18th at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Maria de la Paz Church in Santa Fe. The Chorale presents this monumental work accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra of instrumentalists from the Santa Fe and Albuquerque communities. Also included will be a tribute to more than 20 alumni members of the Chorale who will return to join them in singing some favorites from the past 30 years. Four pairs of tickets will be given away between Monday, May 12th and Thursday, May 15th. Tickets will be held at will call at the Santa Maria de la Paz Church, 11 College Avenue in Santa Fe. | | |
